Soccer Skills and Conditioning Drills

Wall Volleys and Spiderman Pushup Combination

This is a common training drill that I like to do. It helps improve your touch and ball control while also adding in some bodyweight training to work on your chest, shoulders and core. It is effective in helping to maintain the ability to properly control the ball while your body is tired from the pushups. This is vital in soccer.

I will do 3-4 sets of 10 volleys (5 with each foot) and 15 pushups with 45-60 seconds of rest in between.

Skills and Conditioning Combo

This is a great drill that works on both ball control skills and conditioning. I go for 30 touches juggling followed by a 40 yard sprint to the midfield line and a 40 yard sprint back. Rest for 90 seconds then repeat. Go for as many as you can do.

Shooting and Strength Training Combination

This is a great combination drill to improve shooting- specifically placing a ball- while also working on strength and conditioning and mental toughness. Keeping your focus to place the ball where you want to place it when fatigued and battling the elements is essential in soccer.

Place 5-6 balls on the 18 yard line or the arc and shoot each one aiming for a certain spot on the net. Between each shot do 5 push-ups. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

Cardio Variations

Break out of the typical conditioning routine with these great cardio and strength conditioning drills that mix things up and create massive gains in your soccer stamina. They include:

-Treadmill high speed intervals
-High knee over medicine ball stopovers alternating with pushups
-Wall (or in this case treadmill) passes
-Boxing with punching bag

Ball Control and Footwork

A very basic but very effective drill to improve your control on the ball. Touch from side to side between your feet then drag and repeat. Do this 3-5 times a week and in several weeks you will notice significant improvement in your ball control and footwork. DM or email me with questions.
